There will be a work party at the Greeters Shed on Saturday, December 13th from 10am to 2pm. All Greeters are requested to be present. The shed is in dire need of cleaning, and the more people who show up, the faster we will be finished.

At the November Stated Meeting the following officers were elected:

President: Robert Ross
Treasurer/Secretary: Mike Randall

Mike has agreed to act as Secretary, but Robert will be handling the duties of the Secretary.

The next Greeters meeting will be held on December 10th. The following day is the Shrine Stated Meeting. Greeters are needed at the door by 5:30pm. The Winter Uniform is to be worn.

For the past several years Gene Shepard has served as Quartermaster. He has indicated to me that he is no longer able to continue serve in that position. The Greeters are in dire need of a new QM. The Quartermaster ensures that the stated meeting dinners happen. They are regularly simple fare, consisting of hamburgers and hot dogs, or perhaps a couple of Costco Pizzas. The QM also ensures that there continues to be an adequate supply of plates, and napkins. Gene has done an excellent job over these past few years, and he has left some large shoes to fill.

If any Greeter is willing to step up and take his place, please let me know.

The Greeters bus is not running. I know nothing about vehicles. It would be greatly appreciated if someone steps forward and looks into getting the bus running again.

The Greeters' Passing of the Gavel will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 12 Noon.

There are a number of other positions that need to be filled. There are three committees that need to be staffed: Membership, Telephone, and Transportation. The Membership Committee will oversee putting a good face on the Greeters, and do their best to encourage people to join. They will also assist with ideas to make the Greeters a more fun place to be. The Telephone Committee will give people a call a day or so prior to the meetings, and encourage people to attend. The Transportation Committee will exist to ensure our Beloved Bus continues to operate. If you are mechanically inclined and know your way around a vehicle, your expertise would be greatly appreciated. We also need to create a list of drivers. These drivers need to be on file with the Shrine office.

There are also a number of appointed positions that also need to be filled: Assistant Quartermaster, Quartermaster, Sunshine, and liasons for both the Past Presidents and Honored Ladies. The Greeters are in great need of these two liasons. I would like to see these two positions filled with long time members who personally know the Past Presidents and Honored Ladies.

There are two appointed positions that have become obsolete, and as such they will remain vacant until the time comes that they need to be filled again. Specifically, the positions of Captain and Parliamentarian. The Captain was in charge of parades before the Greeters had the bus. The Parliamentarian was an expert on Parliamentary procedure. This position was certainly necessary when attendance at Greeters meetings was in the dozens. However, attendance now is less than a dozen. As a result, this position will also be made dormant.

The 2009 Greeters Roster is being compiled. It will be available (hopefully) by the end of December. The Roster is also undergoing a makeover. There will not be a printed Roster for 2009. Instead, anyone who wants a Roster can email the President for a Roster. It will be a Microsoft Word Document. Those who do not have a computer can request a printed copy. The reason for this decision is one of simple cost. The minimum print run is far beyond the needs of the Greeters, and because of this the expense can no longer be justified.
